Six tips for summer hair care
Share
During the summer, our hair can suffer from a lot of little problems such as dryness, split ends, excess oil, and chlorine damage. Follow our hair care tips to make sure your hair remains healthy even in the summer!
Tip 1: Protect your hair from direct UV rays
Strong UV rays can "burn" hair the same way they burn skin. How do you "burn"? The sun almost burns the cuticle that surrounds and protects the hair strand, depriving it of the natural oils it needs to retain moisture. In turn, hair becomes dry and easily absorbs moisture from the environment, and then you know what happens: frizz.
Tip 2: Regular hair trimming
Regularly trimming split ends prevents further damage to the hair, while effectively reducing frizz and making hair look fuller and shinier
Tip 3: Swim carefully
Wet your hair before swimming to reduce chlorine absorption, then remember to rinse your hair immediately after to minimize chlorine damage!
Tip 4: Avoid frequent shampooing
Excessive shampooing can wash away the natural oils from your hair causing it to become dry and frizzy. The resulting dryness can lead to dandruff, split ends and tangles. That's why it's important to choose a highly moisturizing shampoo, and combining it with a conditioner is also a good way to go!
Tip 5: Avoid hot styling
Excessive heat from overexposure to styling tools can lead to dryness, breakage and loss of elasticity. Therefore, it's best to keep your hair healthy this time of year by cutting back on the use of hot tools!
Tip 6: Keep your body well hydrated
Keeping your hair hydrated starts with internal body conditioning, so it is recommended to drink six to eight glasses of water a day to keep your hair hydrated. When you are out in the sun on a hot summer day, you should drink plenty of water. Drinking water energizes the hair and body, waking up the strands and promoting hair growth. On the contrary, dehydrated hair will look dull, frizzy and brittle.
